When it comes to choosing your perfect ring, the stone cut is more than just a matter of style—it completely transforms how a stone catches the light, how it feels on the hand, and the overall vibe of your piece.
At JUNI, I’m here to help guide you through those choices and make them feel a little less overwhelming, so let’s break down some of the most-loved stone cuts I work with, and what makes each one special.
Round Brilliant
Classic, timeless, and always a beauty. The round brilliant is the most popular cut for good reason—it’s designed to maximise sparkle with 58 perfectly placed facets. If you’re after that wow-factor shimmer, this one never disappoints. It’s elegant, effortless, and suits pretty much every setting.
Pairs beautifully with: solitaire designs, halo settings, and understated bands that let the sparkle take centre stage.
Radiant
The radiant cut is a personal favourite of mine - it blends the elegance of an emerald cut with the sparkle of a round brilliant. It has trimmed corners and a rectangular or square shape, making it modern but still romantic.
It’s the star of my LILY ring and also my own engagement ring, and I love how it feels bold, clean, and full of fire.
Oval
Elegant and elongating, the oval cut is perfect if you’re after something that feels a little softer than a round stone but just as sparkly. It gives the illusion of a larger size too, which is always a bonus.
Ovals also work beautifully with Toi et Moi designs or east-west settings for a more contemporary twist.
Emerald
Understated and sophisticated, the emerald cut is all about clarity. It doesn’t have that same sparkle as a brilliant cut, but instead gives off these beautiful flashes of light—more of a hall-of-mirrors effect.
It’s for those who love minimalism, clean lines, and a bit of old-Hollywood glamour.
Cushion
Romantic and soft, the cushion cut is like a cosy blend of square and round. It’s been around for centuries and gives off a vintage charm that still feels modern in the right setting.
It’s a great option if you want something with personality but don’t want to stray too far from tradition.
Pear & Marquise
For something a little more unique, these elongated cuts offer real individuality. Pear-shaped stones (sometimes called teardrops) feel feminine and graceful, while marquise cuts have this elegant, pointed shape that looks stunning in vintage-inspired designs.
Which One Feels Like You?
Ultimately, there’s no ‘best’ cut - it’s all about what speaks to you. Whether you’re drawn to maximum sparkle, sleek symmetry, or something a little unexpected, I’m here to help you find the stone cut that reflects your style and story.
